Devastated!

"Welcome to the working life!" A sms reply on my mobile yesterday night on my way home while I was stucked in a horrendeus jam on the LDP highway. And to those of you who were those who went and pump in fuel due to the hike in its price yesterday after the announcement made by our beloved prime minister. I forwarded a random sms to selected friends just to check if they were in the same boat as me or not. Fortunately, none of them were :) It took me a solid 4 1/2 hours to reach home from the Kelana Jaya LRT station. On normal days, without the jams, the same journey will max take only 30 minutes!

RM 2.70 per litre of fuel! It was such a talkabout, every corner of the country. Albeit some might say I am well paid as a fresh graduate, but I guess it will never make up to what I will be paying later on (even adding the subsidy provided for the cars). If an ignorant and lackadaisickal fellow like me could feel the pinch, what more those of them who are more less affordable? So much so of "changing lifestyle"!!!

Back to the topic, I was TERRIBLY devastated last night but definitely helpless about the whole scenario. The long journey home made me thought of a lot of things especially on what is happening. I wished I could make a difference to make people happier. I do hope that the situation in the country gets better (in everyway) before everybody is dissatisfied with the whole system!

Another Reason To Smile :)

I am honestly VERY excited about going to work on Monday! :D I recalled a conversation with Thomas earlier, both of us wanted to venture into the Banking line and were both 'making our own dreams' via smses earlier ;) *Okay! That was random.

So, I was pretty focused during my job hunting earlier. I applied for AmBank, Public Bank as well as CIMB. I know, being a fresh graduate, it is not going to be easy to enter the banking lines unless I applied through their Trainee Programmes. All the banks had their respective Programmes for fresh grads, just different in names. AmBank called me for an interview. A week later, it was another interview with Public Bank.

The interview experience with AmBank was very good, I must say. Being it my first interview, I was questioned with numerous questions which I honestly did not know how to reply! Apparently, those were common questions asked during interviews, I was told by my mum and dad. Yes, they didn't give me any hint before my interview! They expected their daugther to be more intelligent than this. *Sighs* Oh ya! Post interview, I had to sit for an English test then later on a personality test. *ish ish*

The following week was another interview. This time it was Public Bank. During the interview at Public Bank, I was told that their Graduate Programme varied from the other banks. Instead of rotating the candidates within the different departments during their training period, Public Bank is the only place which stations the candidate in the department in which they are joining. They do not rotate their candidates conversely, they'll train these graduates the skills which are required to be applied during to their work later on.

When the interviewee asked me which department I was interested in, I firmly told her my decision on the investment side. I have got less interest on the commercial side where loans and mortgages are involved because I know I would not be able to handle a customer like myself *LoLs* Just joking! It is just a personal interest, but I do know people on the support side earns big money ;p

Couple of days later, AmBank called to inform me that I've passed their tests and they're in the midst of drafting my offer letter. A day later, Public Bank called me as well. I was told that I would be placed at Treasury (WHhoOAa~! I could not be happier at that point that I wanted to kiss the particular HR Personnel who called!) I mean, I certainly did not want commercial banking but I thought any department besides that was fine. Treasury is like hitting the jackpot for me! :) She later told me that I will be starting off at RM *,800 with an immediate car loan and credit card-that's the least I need before I go bankrupt!

I turned down AmBank's offer. Their offer was as good but I was only worried about landing on a department which I have less interest in after completing their Graduate Programme. In Public Bank, I know at least, I will be well assured of the department I will be serving. Thus, I will be reporting to work this coming 2 June, Monday. If you're around KLCC, buzz me and we can meet up for lunch k? *sMiLes widely*

By the way Thomas, if you're interested, you can apply online just like me via Public Bank's official website ;) We may end up being workmates too! :)

Lastly but not least, good weekend! *singing Duffy's Mercy*
^_*

A Recap

Oh my gosh! If it wasn't for Jen, I wouldn't realise that I have not been updating my blog regularly... The whole week was busy for me, time to online was limited hence MUSINGS~ was not updated! Sorry people! So, a brief recap of what I was doing during the week...

Monday
Yeow made his trip to my place for a couple of days before I start reporting to work next week :)

Tuesday
We had some Tibetan monks at our house for blessing and some pujas. Many friends and relatives were around too. Out of the six of them, one of them is a five-year-old monk who happens to be a reincarnation of another late Renpochi. My gawd! So much to talk about that event. It was a very memorable event to be remembered. Should have just made an individual post for it. *Ish ish* Stupid me!

Later that evening, I went to Public Bank at Jln Ampang to collect my offer letter! *woots* I've decided to join Public Bank instead of AmBank although the latter's management did call me to collect my letter of offer too. Mum and Dad supported my decision too :) So, Public Bank it is I am joining.

Wednesday
My siblings, Yeow and myself went for a VERY disappointing lunch outing at Hartz Chicken Buffet at The Summit, USJ. Not only the choices of food was limited for the price we were paying, the food on the buffet line was served cold. And I thought they had something called a warmer! It may as well explains why the place was empy when we stepped in.

Yeow and myself later met up with an old senior coursemate and also one of our lecturer for dinner. It was nice just meeting up with old friends, catching up with old times and their updates :)

Thursday
After a few hectic days, we stayed home to recuperate our energy :)

Friday
It was shopping day with Fei :) I had to shop for some formal wear for me to go to work on Monday! I am SO excited about going to work! :) Wish me luck!!!

Met up with some of my sixth form mates after dinner. Didn't I just say it was nice to meet up with old friends? :)

I Am So Disappointed....

I woke up in the morning with TWO, not one but TWO! bad news waiting....

T_T *sobz loudly*

Bad news #1
Okay! The first one? Ya.. ya.. ya..! I know Chelsea lost this morning's match to Manchester United. My inbox was already flooded with text messages after the match but I was too soundly asleep. Da*n!

I am not REALLY sad because Chelsea lost and I am NOT a Chelsea fan but because my dear Mr. John George Terry missed a crucial kick on the post *bangs head* then *faints*

Bad news #2
And then, I headed downstairs to the hall to watch the result show for this year's American Idol finale. I got up just in time for the result ;)

Ryan Seacrest went.....
"America, you've voted and the winner wins over 12 million votes for David... COOK!"

*heart crushed* At this point, I really cannot digest all that I've witnessed. Two disappointments in a row!

AND THEN..........................

I was introduced to this particular song by my sister. She got so excited when she first saw the video and it is free for download :) It is a song by our
Malaysian artises. You want a sneak peak? *LoLs*

Wonderful, wonderful song which definitely made my day :) I've put up the banner on the bottom of my blog in support towards our very own artises. You can do your part too to support the Malaysian music industry.

I kept smiling after listening to the song. I hope it made you day, too. Good day people! Weekend is just around the corner! Another reason to......

*SMMIILLLLEEE* ^_^

David A. Vs David C.

And so, it is down to the 2 Davids for the American Idol Finals! :)

The cute 17-year-old Archuleta,
Vs

The Cook rocker....

*Pictures are sourced from The American Idol official website

My pick? Cutie Archuleta of course! ;) Love his performance... My gawd! *jaws dropped* I am so impressed with him. What were you doing when you were his age? I was busy dreaming, as usual! *yawns* But this boy, he is already making BIG name! *claps*

Lets see what happens tomorrow live at 8am on Channel 711, Astro :)

Another Random Post

I made my trip up North (again!) earlier last week is more memorable than any normal trips I did. Yeow took me to pay a respect to my dear friend, Vincent at the Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang. Vincent have left us for almost 3 years now but is still dear in our hearts, I must say. He will never be forgotten. As to what Tiffany would say, his smile is a definite memory of him.

We were in Penang for a wedding of his younger cousin sister and his new cousin in-law. We spent some time on the island after paying our respects to Vincent. I will be in Alor Setar this coming Monday. Yes, AGAIN! ;) Thanks for the current great competitions between AirAsia and MAS with more than a million of free tickets, Kedah feels just next door to me now :)

A Post About Nothing At All ;)

This post is random, I don't know why. Probably I just needed to update MUSINGS~ but nothing particular in mind. And so,

I hit home for good few days ago ;) It never felt SO good before sleeping on my own bed! There after I was busy with a few interviews. Must have did badly :(

I recalled this particular one with AmBank Group where the interviewee asked me how much I knew about the company and why did I apply for AmBank instead of other banks. That particular moment, I remembered my sister told me about the "honesty policy". But the other part of me didn't want to tell the truth that I just clicked on it for fun without any expectation! (I did the application online by the way) I had to answer it anyway. I had not choice but to tell the truth. I told him I needed a job for money and my interest was in Investment Banking rather than the Consumer Banking because I know Investment Banking is where you make big money. Moreover I am more interested in bonds, shares rather than loans and mortgages ;) It really did help. I advanced to the next step of the IQ test and I ousted the other 7 applicants in my session. When it was my turn to ask the interviewee questions, I knew it was not a good step to ask about the pay thus I casually asked what were they looking for during the interview (in case, it may also help in my future interviews ;p) Their answer was, simply.... "HONESTY"

So, there you go! And I thought it would have been bad for not impressing them but it turned to be the total opposite of what I thought :)

I love home! I know this is random but really, there is no place like home :)
